Preventive Oral Health Program in Administrative Workers in Guadalajara México

Objectives:, to design, apply and evaluate the effectiveness of a preventive oral health program in administrative workers in Guadalajara México. Methods:, an experimental and control group were chosen of administrative workers with similar sociodemographic characteristics with pre- and post-measurements, the independent variable preventive oral health program and the dependent variables (the Index of decayed, missing, and filled teeth for deciduous dentition (dmft) and for permanent dentition (DMFT), Treatment Needs (TN), Community Periodontal Index Treatment Need (CPITN), Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (SOHI), knowldge, attitude, and practice (KAP), Hygienic and Eating Habits, examiners were trained with an intra- and intercalibration (.96 and .96 Kappa) with pre- and post-measurements. Results:, the program was constructed with multiple educational strategies with the participation 9f the workers (self-reflection and workshops) computer-designed and informative talks. A statistical significance difference (p<.05) was found between the pre- and post measurements among the independent and dependent variables at 6, 12 and 18 months. Conclusions:, the Oral Health Prevention Program implemented in Administrative Workers in Guadalajara Mexico was successful, it is applied on an ongoing basis with assessments every six months.
