Objectives: To investigate the decrease of gingival crevicular fluid volume by chewing tea polyphenol gum. Methods: 30 students aged from 8 to 9 years old are randomly divided into 3 groups (n=10/gp). Every group was given tea polyphenol chewing gum , the control gum and no gum respectively. The subjects of gum groups chewed gum (3 min) twice everyday (for 5 days). After 9-day wash-out period every group changed the measure. The gingival crevicular fluid volume of the subjects was measured by Periotron 8000 and analyzed by one-way ANOVA and SNK. Results: After chewing the tea polyphenol chewing gum the gingival crevicular fluid volume was obviously lower than the contrast group(p<0.05). Conclusions: It can be concluded that polyphenol chewing gum has evident effect on decrease of gingival crevicular fluid volume.
