3 Year Clinical Evaluation of Tetric Evo Ceram in Anteriors

aesthetics while conserving natural tooth structure. Objective: The
purpose of this study was to clinically evaluate Tetric EvoCeram (Ivoclar
Vivadent) as a composite restorative in anterior teeth. Methods: IRB
protocol and consent approval was obtained. 44 restorations were placed
as Class 3, Cl. 4, Diastema closure, and Facial Veneers using Excite (Ivoclar
Vivadent) adhesive, and polishing with Astropol (Ivoclar Vivadent) polishing
system. The restorations were evaluated for the following
variables: Anatomic Form (AF), Color Match (CM), Marginal Adaptation
(MA), Retention (RT), Marginal Discoloration (MD), Surface Staining (SS),
Secondary Caries (SC) and Polishability (PL). Results: At three years using a
modified USPHS evaluation system, the following results are reported in
percentages (%) Baseline (BL), Three year (3Yr).

All variables except MD and PL had excellent
evaluations. Margin stain was minor and all restorations were smooth with
little decreased gloss. Conclusions: Within the findings of this
study, Tetric EvoCeram composite is a good clinical choice for anterior
restorations, showing high physical and esthetic characteristics for up to
three years. This study was partial funded by Ivoclar Vivadent.
