Objective: assess the accuracy of Bingo 1020 TM apex locator in primary teeth with and without root resorption in vitro. Methods: After access preparation, root canal lengths from 20 extracted primary teeth with visible resorption and from 20 extracted primary teeth without resorption were measured visually (real length). Electronic measurement was carried out by the apex locator, in canals filled with 1% NaOCl, after the roots were embedded in an alginate model. Data were treated by Tukey's test (P≤0,05). Results: Real measurements were coincident to electronic ones in 90% of the teeth without root resorption and in 15% of the teeth with root resorption. Conclusion: BINGO 1020 TM apex locator can be recommended for use in root canal therapy for primary teeth but might be supported with other diagnostic measures to increase the safety of endodontic treatment.
