Objectives: To evaluate the microtensile bond strength (µTBS) of different etch-and-rinse adhesive systems to dry, moist, and wet dentin. Methods: The crowns of 54 caries-free human molars were separated from the roots. Occlusal surfaces were ground with 600-grit silicon carbide paper to obtain a flat superficial dentin. An experimental one-bottle adhesive “CC Bond” (Clinician's Choice) was the primary subject of interest. The three-step adhesive system All-Bond 2 (Bisco) and the one-bottle adhesives One-Step Plus (Bisco) and OptiBond Solo Plus (Kerr) were included for comparison. Each adhesive group was divided into three subgroups (n=6) where the effect of surface condition, i.e., moist, dry, and wet, was addressed. A composite build-up was done with Filtek Supreme Plus (3M ESPE) after the adhesives were applied according to manufacturers' instructions. Specimens were stored in water for 24 h, and sectioned into beams with a cross-sectional area of 0.8 mm2. µTBS was determined using a universal testing machine and the data were subjected to ANOVA and Fisher's PLSD test. Results: µTBS(MPa ± SD) are summarized in the table. Conclusion: Microtensile bond strengths of some etch-and-rinse adhesives can be affected by dentin surface condition. Supported by Clinician's Choice.
