Animal Models for Periodontal Regeneration - Clinical Relevance

Sponsored by: Periodontal Research
Description: Fenestration or dehiscence, intrabony or furcation, supra-alveolar or box-type, natural or induced, chronic or acute defects. Rodent, feline, porcine, canine, and nonhuman primate models. Various approaches have been employed throughout the years with the aim to simulate naturally occurring periodontal defects and to identify a suitable animal model to study periodontal wound healing/regeneration, and the efficacy and safety of biomaterials and/or devices intended to promote regeneration. In this session, issues pertinent to some of those approaches will be discussed in relation to clinical relevance.
