Objective: A properly cleaned removable prosthesis contributes to good oral health. For this purpose a lot of different methods have been introduced. A proper cleaning method must be effective, easy to use and safe for prosthetic materials and patients as well. In clinical practice auto- and visible light-cured (VLC) materials are used for chairside denture relining. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of some denture cleansers on surface roughness and color stability of chairside relining materials. Methods: Two cleansing solutions, Corega Extradent (Stafford-Miller) , Polident 5 Minutes (GSK) and water as a control group have been used. Seven chairside relining materials, Ufi Gel (Voco) , Astron LC Hard (Astron), Triad Dual Line (Dentsply), Lightdon U (Dreve), Triad Hi Flow (Dentsply), Triad VLC (Dentsply), Light Liner (Bosworth), have been used with the cleansers mentioned for 100 days, in order to test color stability and surface roughness.Five samples for each liner were tested. Color measurments (ΔΕ) were made with a colorimeter and surface roughness (Ra) with a profilometer before and after cleanser use.The results were subjected to two-way ANOVA and Scheffe's test for post hoc comparisons. All tests were performed at confidence level a=0,05. Results: Ufi Gel demostrated the lowest ΔΕ (4,75) and Lightdon U the highest (13,40). Corega Extradent showed significant difference compared to water (p<0,05). On the contrary Polident did not (p>0,05). Astron LC Hard showed the lowest Ra change (0,09µm) and Triad Hi Flow the highest (1,00µm). Both cleansers followed the same effect pattern as in ΔE. Conclusion: All the liners tested demostraded color changes (ΔΕ) which were visible perceptible (ΔΕ>2) and can be considered clinically unacceptable (ΔΕ>3,7) including control (water) group. Polident was proved less harmful than Corega Extradent for the specific materials tested.
