OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate morphologic features of the craniofacial skeleton in treated Class III malocclusion with extraction or without extraction. METHODS: Seventy-nine patients were selected in the study, the extraction group was included 14 males and 22 females and their mean age was 16.63±1.73 yearsGforty three patients accepted nonextraction treatment, their mean age was 15.26±1.98 years(21 males and 22 females). Both groups had been treated with SWA appliance and obtained successful results. The angle and distance indexes of the soft and hard tissues were measured in Winceph 7.0 software. Statistical analysis was carried by Spss 10.0 software. Independent t -tests to compare the differences of the two groups before treatment. Then stepwise discriminated analysis was applied to identify the key factors for discriminating the two groups. RESULT: Discriminant analysis: IS0.122ÚNAPg{0.103 ANS-Me|5.634.Critical score is 0. The classification accuracy was 74.4% in the nonextraction group and 63.9% in the extraction group. CONCLUSION: The important roles in determing extraction or nonextraction treatment for class IIIadult patients are the angle of NAPg and the anterior lower facial height
